Efecto barrio en Bilbao: evidencia empírica reciente

El objetivo de este trabajo es explorar la posible existencia del “efecto barrio” en la ciudad de Bilbao. Para ello, a partir de estadísticas municipales y utilizando como soporte el Análisis Factorial Múltiple, realizamos una caracterización de los barrios de Bilbao desde una perspectiva multidimensional. El análisis sugiere que en algunas de las áreas más segregadas de la ciudad se observan algunos de los mecanismos a través de los que opera el “efecto barrio”. En cuanto a la gestión pública, los enfoques de gobernanza a escala barrial reconociendo al barrio como el ámbito de actuación principal parecen ser la respuesta más adecuada para avanzar en la reducción de la segregación y en la mejora de la calidad de vida de los residentes.
