Lists of journeys and roads, geographical dictionaries and the first editions of the 1:50.000 Map of the Geographic Institute reveal the importance that the crossings of rivers by boat or ford have had in Spain and how long both these ways of crossing have lasted in many places, a clear sign of economic lethargy.
