The tensions emerged from urban, retail and services distribution changes are fostering the need of experts' advice not only to private firms, but also to public agencies to tackle strategic decisions. In this paper it is presented a synthesis of a larger study focused to provide a situation diagnostic and proposals, concerning the retail sector, to enlighten the urban pohcy of Tres Cantos, a new town in the Madrid metropolitan area.
