Indicators in Social Geography. This paper examines the more general background to social indicators. It discusses possible purposes for wich social indicators should be developed. Social indicators have to be seen as a tool to be used in planning and monitoring strategies and to illustrate the differences in social situations within countries or regions. A tjrpology and new complex indicators are presented.
