Sugar cane industry is one of the most traditional activities in Mexico and its economical importance for the country is related whith the harvested surface area, the production value and the number of workers employed. However, the great crisis affecting sugar cane industry since 1975, as a result of admmistrative, organizative, technological and economical factors has provoked a deep restructuration. Main problems and effects of sugar cane industry restructuration are analised in this paper.
