Abstract

The Iberian Peninsula climate is influenced by the large water was which surround it and act as thermal buffers. In order to point it out, the contientality index of Gorezynski and the oceanity index of Kerner has been applied. The values of the two indices in the Iberian Peninsula have been correlated.

It was found that the Kerner index explais the oceanic character of Mediterranean climate and the penetrating influence from Atlantic Ocean in the western open valleys. The Gorezynski index exhibits a concentric distribution centered in «La Mancha». This index only explains 62% of the Kerner index Variance.
