Abstract

This is an historical study which desctibes the social organisation of the peasant demesnes, and also other aspects of the vie of the agricultural land in the Low Middle Ages in the northeast ofwhat is now the province of Zamora. Priority attention is given to snowing the way the crops were ordered into specialised allotments. Use has been made of infonnation taken from two wide collections of documents from the Parrochial Archives of Villalpando and from the Archives of the Monastery of Santa Clara de Villalobos, with special reference briven to the fixing of boundaries of the different agrarian properties (lnnd for cereals, vineyards, pasture, threshing b'Tounds, orchards, etc.), which were the object of considerable number of legal documents, such as contracts of sale, donations, lenses, lnwswits, barters, etc.
