This paper explores the micro-climate of the urban area of Madrid, focusing specifically on the diurnal temperatures. To this end two data sources have been used: aerial thermal records with digital thermometers and the thermal infrared band of Thematic Mapper (Landsat 5). The study reveals thermal contrasts that seem to be linked with topograhy, orientation and, also, with differences in land use and urban morphology.
